Board

The UEMS European Board of Psychiatry was established in1992.

The Board has as its focus issues relating to training both for undergraduates and postgraduates in the field of psychiatry. Its aim is to ensure the unification of training standards and assessment of efficacy of this training as EU national borders are now open to professional migration through mutual recognition arrangements. Vigorous attempts have been made to encourage audit of training processes with particular emphasis on safe training arrangements and the recognition of the need for time and resource allocation for training purposes. Board officers, in conjunction with trainee organisation representation, have directly contributed to these processes in a number of EU countries. The Board also addresses topics such as the psychiatric curriculum and psychotherapy training arrangements.

There has been inevitable overlap with the Section agenda especially on matters such as competency based training and the content and registration of continuing professional development.

Reports of recent Board interests can be found on this site.
